Badger Surveys

Why do Badger Surveys Matter?

The initial badger survey is a preliminary Badger Survey, which is a visual survey of the Site for signs of badger activity, including the presence of badger setts (their homes). We include this survey as standard within our Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey.

If Badger setts are on or close to the Site, a detailed survey may be required. These can include: sand and hair traps (to capture paw prints, hairs and recent activity at suspected sett entrances) and Infra-red camera surveys (to record activity around suspected sett entrances).

Badger surveys can be undertaken any time of year but can be more effective if undertaken in winter, especially in relation to main badger setts.

Often, impacts to badgers and their setts can be avoided. When they can’t, our team has the knowledge and expertise to help reduce constraints and minimise disturbance to the badgers. Please contact us if you would like to discuss our badger survey services.
