Ecological Walkover Survey

A simple walkover of the Site by a qualified ecologist. This is our most basic habitat survey, but sometimes it’s the most effective.

It can be used to inform pre-application discussions, pre-purchase / option discussions, and sometimes to update an out of date habitat survey. It determines the habitats present and ecological features on Site.

Often, it can be combined with a Site meeting, to help shape the project brief and it’s associated needs. It is written up in the form of a letter-style report, which sets out our findings and assessment.

Let us guide you through the process from initial aims to project gains.

The aim of the survey is to gather broad scale ecological information rapidly.

An ecologist visits the Site, recording the habitats present and the key ecological features. This can be paired with a site visit with the client to discuss the Proposed Development and Site in general.

An ecologist will produce a letter style report which outlines key ecological constraints and opportunities.

The report is typically used to inform initial decision making or to check the Site remains in a similar condition to a previous survey. The survey can be used as a discussion point and design guide which can help limit future costs and survey requirements.
