About Reptile Surveys
Reptile surveys seek to determine if reptiles are present, their estimated population size, and their distribution across proposed development sites. If found, these species can be readily mitigated for by providing suitable habitat within the Proposed Development or moving the reptiles to a location agreed with the Local Planning Authority.
Our team of experts are here to guide you every step of the way. From discussing your initial aims, we can advise the most suitable course of action for your project.
Process and Seasonal Constraints
Reptiles are typically found in areas of grassland, brownfield, field margins and, near railway lines. This survey involves the deployment of reptile refugia (typically roofing felt) across the Site, within areas suitable for reptiles.
The refugia are then left to ‘bed in’ then checked for reptiles, over a period of roughly eight weeks, between mid-March and mid-October inclusive.
